Q.1 How is this different from any other JavaScript book?

A. JavaScript Concepts & Techniques was written by a Web development instructor with the beginning programmer in mind. In the author's experience, 85% of her JavaScript students are beginning programmers for whom JavaScript is their first programming language. While other JavaScript books skim over basic programming concepts, assuming the reader only needs a review, JavaScript Concepts & Techniques discusses them in detail and provides lots of examples.

The author strives throughout the book to provide meaningful and useful coding examples that students can immedicately apply to their own Web sites. For instance, in this book you'll find scripts to create image rollovers, slideshows, pop-up windows, cookies, shopping carts, form validations, pull-down menus, and more. As the book progresses, the programs become more complex, building on what the student has learned and increasing her expertise.

The book includes a detailed glossary, missing from most JavaScript books, and several useful appendices, including: JavaScript Object and Language Reference, Debugging JavaScript, Cross-Browser Dynamic HTML Reference, and more.
